When you’re feeling out of balance, it could be that you’ve got a circadian rhythm issue. There might also be a seasonal affective disorder that could be causing your symptoms. If light therapy has been recommended to you, then consider the NatureBrightSunTouch Plus Light and Ion Therapy Lamp as a way to have your needs met.

Many doctors recommend light therapy levels to be at 10,000-lux. This allows you to receive the correct amount of brightness for about 30 minutes of therapy. With NatureBright, you’ll pay half the cost for this brightness compared to other brands in this category.

You’ll also receive a negative ion therapy option with this lamp, which may enhance the effects of the light therapy being experience.

Key Features of the NatureBrightSunTouch Plus Light

  • It emits a 17,000 Kelvin UV-Free light. This is the equivalent to the blue-sky light that can be found at the North Pole.
  • You can attach a SunTouch aromatherapy capsule to this light to provide additional therapeutic benefits to your light therapy, though this product is sold separately.
  • A built-in timer allows you to make sure you receive the correct amount of therapy, not matter where you happen to be.
  • It is suitable for use in the home or at the office at 45 watts.

This isn’t a wake-up light or a sunrise simulator. The NatureBrightSunTouch Plus Light and Ion Therapy Lamp is specifically designed to provide bright light therapy with a couple of added benefits. You can use it while watching TV, eating your breakfast, or even while reading something on your computer.

It provides a visible white light and works best if it can be used immediately after waking up. You also have the option of turning off the negative ion therapy feature if you prefer.

Our Observations of the NatureBrightSunTouch Plus Light

The ion therapy feature seems to be more of a marketing gimmick than anything else. It could potentially be irritating to some people who have breathing issues, such as asthma. Purchase this product for the 10,000-lux it can provide and ignore the ion therapy option.

As for the actual light, we found it to be a flicker-free experience. The timer can be somewhat touchy, so you will want to be prepared to shut off the light on your own. There is no real heat produced by this unit, but the bulbs do seem to have a somewhat limited lifespan.

There is a certain “harshness” to the light that makes it feel more fluorescent than natural. It wasn’t really bothersome to us, but could be an issue for some individuals.

Our Grade for the NatureBrightSunTouch Plus Light and Ion Therapy Lamp: B+

If this product were just a 10,000-lux lamp, it would receive a higher grade. We must, however, look at the product as a whole. The ion therapy feature is one of the primary negatives we saw with this product. It is certainly affordable and gets the job done, but the light can feel a little harsh when it is close to your face. It’s a good entry-level option, especially for those who have a seasonal affective disorder diagnosis.
